Cryotherapy

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Whole Body Cryotherapy?

WBC is the process of exposing the body to hyper cool temperatures (-168* F) for 3 minutes in order to elicit the natural healing process. It was developed in Japan in the 1970’s and is used by professional athletes to decrease recovery time and improve performance and by clients seeking recovery from injuries, to decrease inflammation, and its many anti-aging properties.

Is Whole Body Cryotherapy safe?

Yes.  It has been used in Europe and Asia for over 30 years as a proven treatment for recovery and health. Our Whole Body Cryotherapy chamber is completely electric, avoiding the use of toxic gases and our staff is fully trained to ensure your safety.  We equip you with the necessary ear protection, gloves, shoes, socks, clothing (optional) and facemask to ensure your comfort within the chamber.

Are there contraindications for Whole Body Cryotherapy?

The most important contraindications are being pregnant, having uncontrolled blood pressure or severe heart problems, pacemakers, open wounds, or other severe, life threatening diseases without Doctor consent.

What should you expect to happen during your session?

Before entering the Whole Body Cryotherapy chamber for the first time, the staff will walk you over the process and equip you with gloves, shoes, socks, facemask, and ear protection to protect your extremities from the freezing temperature.  The session lasts 3 minutes and during this time, your skin temperature drops and you will feel chilled but not uncomfortably cold.  After the session, your skin temperature will return back to normal.

How does Whole Body Cryotherapy help improve my metabolism?

WBC “tricks” your body into implementing the same responses it would if you were freezing without the discomfort. Your body works much harder than normal in order to heat your body up. Consequently, it’s been reported that 500-800 calories are burned as a result of each session.

How does Whole Body Cryotherapy work?

WBC is a process of exposing the body to ultra-cool temperatures for no more than 3 minutes at a time in order to trick the brain that the body is freezing, triggering the body’s natural healing mechanisms. As your core works intensively to heat blood and transport it to your extremities, circulation is increased, purifying blood by replacing harmful toxins with oxygen. This oxygen-purified blood, full of hormones like NOREPINEPHRINE, OXYTOCIN, SERATONIN, ENDORPHINS and enzymes, then courses to your muscles and organs, accelerating healing and recovery.

How often should I use Whole Body Cryotherapy?

WBC is very safe and can be used daily if needed as pain management.  Most clients come in 2-3 times per week because of their busy schedules.  Athletes use it for decreased recovery time and peak performance, so they come in daily.

What are the benefits of Whole Body Cryotherapy for health and wellness?

  • Reduced inflammation (including fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriasis)
  • Reduced psychological stress, anxiety, and depression
  • Increased energy
  • Improved sleep
  • Enhanced immune function
  • Better joint function
  • Increased libido
  • Quicker post-surgery recovery times

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Red Light / Infrared Light Therapy?

Red Light Therapy technology is referred to “Photo-biostimulation”.  This is a non-invasive, alternative treatment that utilizes medical grade, high-quality red light and infra-red light that deliver concentrated wavelengths of natural light to your skin and cells, without dangerous UV rays or excess heat.  Light therapy enters the tissue, stimulates the cell structure and function, and significantly increases cellular activity by increasing the production of ATP (ATP = adenosine triphosphate).  ATP is a complex organic chemical that provides energy for our cells.

How does Red Light / Infrared Light Therapy work?

The LED lights use ranges of wavelengths that penetrate the outer layer of the skin, providing the cells with usable energy. This brings about various reactions in the cells including improved healing, the reduction of inflammation and enhanced production of collagen. Red Light addresses surface or near surface conditions and imperfections, while Infrared Light penetrates much deeper.

What is the difference between Red Light and Infrared Light?

Red and near infrared light therapy are exactly the same except for two differences:

  • Red light is visible and near infrared light is invisible.
  • Near infrared light penetrates into the body deeper than red light.

Is Red Light / Infrared Light Therapy safe?

Red light therapy has been studied and tested across hundreds of peer-reviewed clinical trials, with overwhelmingly positive results for skin health, collagen production, physical performance & muscle recovery, sleep, joint pain, inflammation, and a lot more. And that’s without drugs, chemicals, UV rays, invasive procedures, or other common side effects.

How long does it take for Red Light Therapy to work?

After several treatments, you will begin to see improvements anywhere from 24 hours to 2 months, depending on the condition, its severity, and how regularly the light is used.

  1. For the “healthy glow” of a photo-facial, you’ll see a difference right away.
  2. When used in conjunction with infrared light for pain relief, results can arrive in under 20 minutes.
  3. As a skin healing therapy, some improvements should be noticed in as little as 24 hours from the first treatment. If the wound is quite small and superficial, a healthy person should see quite a dramatic improvement in a short period of time.
  4. Acne scars and scars from other types of injuries can start being visibly improved in as little as two weeks, and should gradually fade over time with continued use.

What are the skin benefits of Red Light / Infrared Light Therapy?

  • Creates a healthy glow
  • Smooths overall skin tone
  • Builds collagen, reducing wrinkles, including crow’s feet, under eye wrinkles, forehead wrinkles & laugh lines
  • Speeds the healing of blemishes, like acne and rosacea
  • Repairs sun damage
  • Reduces redness, flushing, and broken capillaries
  • Fades scars and stretch marks
  • Brings more moisture to your skin
  • Prevents hair loss & stimulates regrowth
  • Treats a growing list of skin conditions

What are the benefits of Red Light / Infrared Light Therapy for wounds, injuries and pain?

  • Speeds the healing of wounds and injuries to the body
  • Speeds wound healing in even non-healing wounds
  • Improves or restores range of motion
  • Reduces inflammation and pain

Halotherapy

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Halotherapy?

Salt Therapy, also called Halotherapy, is a therapeutic and 100% natural, drug-free, non-invasive treatment. Salt therapy is a method of inhaling pure, dry, micronized salt air particles. These particles reach the deepest area of the lungs absorbing bacteria and pollutants and providing an anti-inflammatory and cleansing effect. This process supports and strengthens the body’s immune system by eliminating toxins and allergens that are trapped within the mucus lining of the respiratory system.

How does Halotherapy work?

Dry pharmaceutical grade salt is heated and then it is ground and crushed into very tiny microparticles in a machine called a halogenerator. These dry aerosol microparticles of salt are then dispersed into the chamber during a typical session. As the person relaxes in the chamber, the microparticles are inhaled. The particles penetrate deep into the lungs, bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli. Bacteria and pollutants are dissolved as salt enters the lungs and respiratory system by eliminating mucous and opening constricted airways.

Is Halotherapy safe?

Halotherapy is completely safe.  It is a 100% drug-free, non-invasive, comfortable treatment with no side effects or potential health hazards. The only people who should avoid being in a salt chamber are those with severe chronic respiratory issues and those with open wounds and sores. It is advisable that people going into a salt chamber remove all personal jewelry, glasses and other belongings since salt can be corrosive to exposed metal.

Is Halotherapy safe for children?

Salt therapy is not only safe for children; it is a highly recommended natural treatment. There are no potentially harmful side effects. The treatment is suitable for children of any age (as young as 1-month-old). Interestingly, children respond to the therapy more quickly than do adults.  During a salt therapy session, children can play with toys, read books and interact with other children.

What are the benefits of Halotherapy?

Salt therapy has provided benefits for those with the following conditions:
